Wilderness is very well situated for easy access to all the major business centres, holiday destinations and golf courses in the Garden Route.

Our self-catering units at de oude Werf are suitably designed for business people and smaller groups of sports lovers who need a centrally located base to travel to places such as Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, Sedgefield, George and Mossel Bay.

Most destinations are no more than an hour’s drive from de oude Werf.

George Airport, the main airport in the Garden Route, is only a 15min drive away.

De oude Werf is within walking distance from the beach, hikes through fynbos areas and top class restaurants. 

Not only is the beauty of the Garden Route one of its outstanding features, but the area is also a hype of activity throughout the year.

Festivals, gastronomica events, flea-markets, food markets and local social gathering spots provide lots of entertainment.

Day trips to the Outeniqua, Montague, Robinson and Phantom Passes, including the Seven Passes road, are a favourate amongst 4X4 enthusiasts.

Other places of note include the Diaz Museum at Mossel Bay, a boat trip on the Knysna Lagoon, bass fishing at the Groenvlei, a visit to Victoria Bay and Hoekwil to experience its splendour, canoeing on the Kaaimans River and whale and dolphin watching at Plettenberg Bay.

The Garden Route has become one of the preferred golfing destinations for many golfers   from all over South Africa and abroad and championship courses include Pinnacle Point, Fancourt, Simola, Pezula, Oubaai and George.
